AMD Launches Helion AI Rack Solution Supporting Up to 32,768 CPU Cores
AMD has launched the AMD Helion AI rack solution, based on the Open Compute Project (OCP) specifications, designed to meet the computational demands of large-scale AI agents, supporting flexible combinations of CPUs and GPUs. The solution offers two configurations: one is a pure CPU rack equipped with sixth-generation AMD EPYC processors, supporting up to 32,768 CPU cores, specifically designed for ultra-large-scale deployments; the other is an integrated rack that combines AMD EPYC CPUs, AMD Instinct MI350P GPUs, and general-purpose computing nodes, aimed at enterprise-level AI applications for intelligent agents. Helion supports both liquid cooling and air cooling configurations, allowing customers to adjust CPU and GPU resources according to their needs. This solution integrates open-source hardware and software along with a Token router, enabling the allocation of agent model calls to cutting-edge models and open-source models. AMD plans to submit the Helion specifications to the OCP for further development and adoption by the community, with a launch expected in November 2026.
