Sergey Boev Appointed Interim Head of Ukroboronprom After Dismissal of German Smetanin

The supervisory board of Ukroboronprom has appointed Sergey Boev as the interim general director following the dismissal of German Smetanin. The competition for the position of general director has already begun. Boev previously held the positions of Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries and Deputy Minister of Defense, overseeing the development of the defense industry and international cooperation. Smetanin left his post on July 14 without explanation. His dismissal followed an incident in Vysheve, where nine people were killed and over 600 were evacuated due to shelling. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that all those involved in the incident would be held accountable, pointing to violations of ammunition storage rules in residential areas. As a result of the strike, 280 residential buildings were damaged.
