Apple Prohibits Employees from Using Insider Information to Participate in Predictive Market Trading
Apple has submitted its annual filing to the U.S. SEC, updating its insider trading policy to include predictive market trading as a prohibited activity. Employees are not allowed to use confidential information obtained through their work at Apple to place bets or trade on predictive market platforms such as Polymarket, even if such actions do not constitute insider trading or securities trading, as they violate company policy. The new regulations clarify that employees must not use confidential information acquired during work to participate in market activities predicting the outcomes of future events, with restrictions covering Apple itself as well as other companies, suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, customers, and business partners. Additionally, Apple prohibits employees from disclosing relevant confidential information to individuals who may engage in such trading. This adjustment is related to the recent development of predictive markets like Polymarket and Kalshi, some of which involve information about Apple's yet-to-be-announced new products, including release dates, specifications, and pricing.
